If you want your child to grow up with a strong and healthy smile in Cape Coral, Florida, then there are things you need to do each day. Along with encouraging your child to keep up on oral hygiene, you also need to pack tooth-healthy snacks in their lunchbox. Here are some things your dentist, Dr. Mauricio Martinez, recommends:
-Don’t pack applesauce: Applesauce is practical and portable, which makes things extremely convenient. However, it’s not convenient for your child’s smile. Applesauce is packed with natural and added sugar that can cause tooth decay. Instead of applesauce, pack a small container of cottage cheese.
-Choose real fruit: Oftentimes fruit snacks and fruit leathers find their way into the lunchbox. However, they can be extremely dangerous to the smile because they cling to the teeth and promote plaque buildup. Instead of packing these snacks, pack real fruit, like grapes, oranges, bananas, and apples.
-Provide plain milk: Chocolate, strawberry, and other flavors of milk can be harmful to the teeth because they coat the smile with sugar. This is why it’s best to pack plain milk in your child’s lunch. If they aren’t intrigued by the plain milk, you can always add food coloring.
If you follow these tips, there is a high chance your child will have a healthy smile and body! To learn more, or if you have any questions, please remember that you can always call Gulf Coast Smiles at 239.549.0001 for information, details, and advice. We’re happy to help you in any way we can!
